Carbonate Lime

A NATURAL WAY TO HEALTHY, FERTILE SOIL

WHAT IS CARBONATE LIME FERTILIZER?
Carbonate lime fertilizer is a natural soil amendment made primarily from ground limestone (a sedimentary rock rich in calcium carbonate – CaCO₃).
It’s an acid-neutralizing fertilizer widely used in agriculture and horticulture.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
Soil deacidification – neutralizes excess acids, raising soil pH
Improves soil structure – enhances aeration and water retention
Boosts nutrient availability – many nutrients are more accessible at higher pH
Supports beneficial microorganisms – soil bacteria thrive in neutral conditions

WHEN TO APPLY?
Autumn (after harvest) – gives soil time to react before the next season
Early spring – if autumn application wasn’t possible, can be applied before sowing (keep safe spacing from other fertilizers)

HOW TO APPLY?
Application rates depend on soil pH and type – the lower the pH, the higher the need
Typical dosage: 1–4 tons/ha depending on soil condition
Distribute evenly and mix into the soil (e.g., by plowing or harrowing)

FOR WHICH SOILS AND CROPS?
Especially recommended for acidic and strongly acidic soils (pH < 6)
Key for crops like: cereals, corn, rapeseed, sugar beets, potatoes – as well as orchards and meadows
